Update on American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 NIH Opportunities:

NIH announced three additional ARRA initiatives via Notices from the NIH Office of the Director. 

·         NIH Announces the Availability of Recovery Act Funds for Administrative Supplements
(NOT-OD-09-056)
Purpose: Administrative supplements to accelerate the tempo of scientific research on active grants.

·          NIH Announces the Availability of Recovery Act Funds for Administrative Supplements Providing Summer Research Experiences for Students and Science Educators
(NOT-OD-09-060)
Purpose: Administrative supplements to promote job creation, economic development, and accelerate the pace and achievement of scientific research by encouraging students to seriously pursue research careers in the health related sciences, as well as to provide elementary, middle school, and high school teachers, community college faculty, and faculty from non-research intensive institutions with short term research experiences in NIH-funded laboratories.

In keeping with the intent of the ARRA, note that only US domestic parent grants are eligible to apply.  These awards are restricted to a maximum of two (2) years of support and will not be renewable.
